MORE IDYLLIC, LESS TYPICAL
Join me on my road to better fitness. I'll be posting thoughts, successes, challenges I've overcome, and visions of where I'm headed physically.
For me the last two years have been about increasing flexibility to facilitate a better golf swing. I think I'm finally ready to change my shape.
It's wild to say it, but I'm a couple of short years away from the big 40, and I don't want to be looking like I am.
I've never spent a lot of time at the computer at home - that's my excuse for posting so sporatically before, but with the ease of the blogger app on my iphone it's going to be a lot easier to record progress, gain positive strength from my friends, and benefit from project Vin.

was hard becomes easy
Yesterday was a typical spring work day for me - just shy of 14 hours. It's easy to come up with reasons not to hammer out a workout on days like this, but last night was different. I thought of project Cancun, Bikini, and Ragnar. It didn't take that long to decide I couldn't miss the first night of the first week. So thanks to Bethany, Amy, and Kristi for being first in. All the others that have emailed and commented were in my mind too: Al, Gwen, Jana, Stephanie, Sachiko, Randy, Cassie, Brit, Rhett, Chad, Scott, Erka, and Mignon. I love the idea of what was hard became easy. I hope everybody joins. If you know somebody who could support you, email me an address, I'll send an invite.

why not now why not for good
Seriously people. I'm sick of thinking back to the good old days when I had a six-pack and people commented on my physique. I'm sick of feeling like a slug. But I've realized I don't have the power to get to where I want to go without help. That's why I created this blog. I've already started my workouts, but want a group of my friends with similar goals to join me in reporting weekly progress and sharing what's working to motivate and inspire.
The idea is simple. I want to report two things: how many days the workout got done and how much weight was lost. To make it comfortable for lots of people to participate I've decided to only report percentage weight loss each week so should anybody choose to join me they can tell me what they weigh, but nobody else will see the number. If telling me your weight is too much, track your own weight and send me your percentage loss each week.
Or if you don't want to report, but want to contribute to the blog, great. It'll help me stay committed and I hope it'll help you stay motivated.
I intend to report how many days you worked out if you give me the number. I'm not going to define what a workout is. I have my goals. You have yours. Each week there will be acknowledgement to everybody that reports workouts and percentage weight losses.
This blog is definitely not a contest. It's going to be an ongoing forum for accountability and celebration. Accountability in weekly reporting and celebration in weekly recognition of progress. Once I reach my ideal - and I'm the only one that will know when I'm there - I'm going to remain on the list as one who completed the project. I intend to keep the blog going until every contributor tells me they've made it.
The group will start on Sunday April 4th. Participants will need to report weight and days worked out before 2 pm every Sunday. I will update the blog by 8 pm Sunday night.
Regarding my project name, my woman has always had a thing for Vin Deisel and her response to his physique recently helped me realize I need to whip myself into broad-shouldered, big-armed, well-defined-pec form. For Brit.
Incidentally, if she joins then for her it'll be project Jessica (Biel). You see me working.
