MORE IDYLLIC, LESS TYPICAL

Join me on my road to better fitness. I'll be posting thoughts, successes, challenges I've overcome, and visions of where I'm headed physically.

For me the last two years have been about increasing flexibility to facilitate a better golf swing. I think I'm finally ready to change my shape.

It's wild to say it, but I'm a couple of short years away from the big 40, and I don't want to be looking like I am.

I've never spent a lot of time at the computer at home - that's my excuse for posting so sporatically before, but with the ease of the blogger app on my iphone it's going to be a lot easier to record progress, gain positive strength from my friends, and benefit from project Vin.

strength

You know, the body is amazing.  I love that with a few workouts strung together I start feeling so differently so suddenly.  It was the out of shape, tired all the time, persistently lame feeling that really got me fired up for project Vin, but this week, just a few in, that feeling seems so far away.  The human body is amazing.

There is one significant difference for me though now verses earlier times of dedicated working out.  It's simply strength.  I feel so much stronger than at any other time in my life.  In terms of weight I can lift or speed, I haven't measured against what I was, but there is a distinct feeling of being stronger than ever before.

I've heard that for men the thirties into your forties is when you have the ability to be the strongest you will ever be.  I'm not sure that's what's going on here, or if the contrast from how low I was, with the hope of where I'm heading, has created a new exaggerated feeling, or if the the strength is reality, but I don't care.  It feels great!
